Please note that the sequence and length of the stops can change if the weather is unfavourable. I try to keep you dry if possible, but it is Scotland!
A 300 mile circuit along one of the most beautiful and rugged scenery along the Western Ross coast. Down the Great Glen and out the Parliament Road to Kyle of Lochalsh.
Alternately using the Brahan – Strath Carron route.
No stops on either of these for first 90 mins but commentary will be ongoing.
We are heading for the amazing Wester Ross where stops will be wherever we can within the time limits!
Plockton – An outstandingly beautiful village with palm trees on the beach, in a very scenic bay overlooked by Craig castle. BBC TV comedy drama series Hamish MacBeth was filmed here. 30 mins walk about
Bealach na Bà (The pass of the coos.) An infamous route with hairpin bends. No big buses up here!
Intermittent 30 mins for photography allowed at any desired multiple locations, especially the bottom and the top.
Between Applecross village, along the new coast road to Shieldaig and onwards to Ullapool we can accommodate up to 2 hour combined photo stops at various scenic viewpoints.
Shieldiag – an old herring fishing village.
Torridon – rugged country here especially along the short road along the north side of the loch. Your cameras will never stop.
Gairloch – a beautiful wee village with lovely sandy beaches in the village and in the nearby area. (If the tides are right I will try to teach you to catch razor shells. If not we may try catching crabs in harbours or a wee bit beachcasting somewhere along the way (Catch and release).
Poolewe – beautiful wee village and bay with a large arboretum and garden open to the public.
Gruinard Bay – site of the infamous Anthrax island.
Ullapool – in Loch Broom lies this quaint wee fishing village and ferry port to Stornoway on the Isle of Lewis. The shore street is lovely. 1 hour stop for photography, shopping or eating/drinking.
Corrieshalloch Gorge – dramatic natural feature with a wonderful foot bridge crossing the deepest part.
Strathpeffer – a leafy Victorian spa town surrounded by wooded hills.
